Dig Safely New York, Inc. has once again partnered with other one-call centers, the Common Ground Alliance, and national stakeholders to sponsor professional horse jockey Victor Espinoza for his 2015 season. Espinoza will be riding American Pharoah in the 141st running of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 2, 2015.
American Pharoah takes a four-race winning streak into the Derby. He's won those races by a combined 22 ¼ lengths, all under Victor Espinoza, making him the likely favorite for Saturday’s race. The three-year-old colt is owned by Zayat Stables, LLC, and trained by Bob Baffert. His sire, Pioneerof The Nile, finished second in the 2009 Derby.
Workouts begin at Churchill Downs on Tuesday morning, and the 20-horse field will be set Wednesday with the Kentucky Derby draw at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on NBC Sports Network.
Will American Pharoah live up to the hype and etch his misspelled name into the history books? Check out the Derby on Saturday to find out. Espinoza will again be wearing the Call 811 message on his silks, boots, and turtleneck, as seen in the photo taken at the 2015 Arkansas Derby in April.
Coverage of the Kentucky Derby begins at noon Saturday, May 2, on NBC Sports Network, which will include human-interest stories, live coverage of the undercard races from Churchill Downs, and spotlights on the 20-horse field. Coverage will switch over to NBC at 4 p.m., with the 141st Kentucky Derby posts at 6:24 p.m.
